More Babies!!

Tonight 'Lil One finally brought her babies for us to see. Three more sweet adorable faces - one much darker than the others (this one likes to take baths!) Here is some video of them, through the glass. The last seconds are too cute, so hang in until the end.

Later that night, the original set of babies came with their mamma, and Lil One was back (without her kids) and we had two feeding stations set up about 5 feet apart, and they actually shared! Mom and babies were head first into their pot, and she was in hers and they didn't challenge each other like they usually do. It was a nice little moment of raccoon harmony!

Missing Baby

Here is the skiddish little baby who got himself separated from mom. He spent the day in our garage, while our nerves were on edge hoping that mom would come back for him. What would we do if she didn't come?? Thankfully we didn't have to answer that question.

When the sun went down, mom was the first raccoon of the night to come into the yard. She was a little leary of the carrier, but when she got close enough, the baby saw her and ran out towards her. They were so happy to see each other, they started kissing and grooming... They stayed in the yard for about 20 minutes, eating and drinking together. Baby learned his lesson and didn't get more than 6 inches away from mom. A few hours later the whole family came back for snacks, just like nothing ever happened. I wonder if his mom was as stressed out as we were?!

OH NO!!!!

The first set of kits of the year made their debut last night, but instead of being a happy occasion, two of them got spooked by a noise. They hid behind our garbage cans, and left by their momma! About 40 minutes later, mom came back and got one of them that we were able to shoo back into the yard, but the other one was too shy and slow and got left again. Poor little thing waited all night, so in the morning we went out and got him off the wall to protect him from the sun and stress of the day. I'm sure mamma will come back to claim her kit, but there is alot of pressure - I just want them all to be ok! (Oh, the stress!!)

They are coming!

Anxiously awaiting the summer of babies - we have at least 3 or 4 moms that are obviously nursing. It will be a great summer of baby fun!
